talented and successful women and men who know how important it
is to provide all girls opportunities to become strong,
confident, courageous women who WILL make the world a better

Read a
summary of the process here.
The Board of Directors of the Girl Scout of the Chesapeake Bay

next CEO.
Anne is a life long Girl Scout, she served as a member and as

Girl Scouts FIRST Robotics Team!
The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council would like to congratulate Girl Scouts Erin L. (Charter School of Wilmington), Na-Kya
B. (Elbert-Palmer Elementary) and Brezeana G. (Shortlidge Elementary) on receiving an award from the FIRST Lego League!
The girls won a trophy award for successfully engineering, building and programming their very own Lego robot! On Saturday, January 19, the girls went to the regional robotics competition at the Bob Carpenter Center at UD to compete against over 55 other teams from across the region! The girls did very well at the regional competition, and although they did not qualify to move on to nationals, Erin, Na-Kya and Brezeana are incredibly happy and proud of what they have accomplished. When asked what she thought of the whole experience, and of science and technology, Na-Kya said “It’s really cool!”
Erin L., with the help of her high school science teacher Cheryl Potocki, organized the very first Girl Scouts Lego Team in order to earn her Gold Award project. She wanted to share her love of science and technology with other girls in hopes of preparing them for possible careers in related fields.
For more information on how Girl Scouts can join the Girl Scout Lego Team, contact Angie Cright at (302) 456-7150 x 7165.

| Lights... Camera... Cookies! |
January 2, '08 |
The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay are gearing up for yet another successful Cookie Program,
starting January 5, 2008. Individuals interested in purchasing cookies can call the Cookie Hotline at
1-800-YUM-YUM2.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is about more than just selling great tasting cookies. The program has a lasting impact on girls’ lives by helping them to build life skills such as money management, decision-making, teamwork and goal setting. All of the proceeds—every penny—from a local council's cookie activities remains in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop treasuries, and some of it indirectly by funding Council-led programs for Girl Scouts. In 2007, over 9,000 Girl Scouts participated in the Cookie Program, selling over
1,071,000 boxes of cookies to the community.

| Towards a New Girl Scout Experience |
November 19, '07 |
The Girl Scout community is hard at work addressing our Core Business Strategy’s call for a major transformation centered on building the world's best leadership experience that ties activities to outcomes, provides differentiation for girls from kindergarten through high school, and offers flexible pathways for today's diverse and busy girls and volunteers.
With input from girls, the Girl Scout community, and youth development experts, a team of national and council staff spent 2005 determining key elements and outcomes for the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This model was finalized in 2006 and then slated, by the National Board of Directors, for first-stage implementation in fall 2008.

| Mid-Shore Clean Up - Volunteers needed |
August 31, '07 |
The International Ocean Clean up is being coordinated on the
Mid-Shore by the Soroptimist International of Talbot County (SITC)
for the Eighth Year. The 21st annual event takes place on
September 15, 2007 throughout the world. Locally, the states of
New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, and Maryland join forces
in a coordinated effort along the beaches, the Bay, and the
waterways feeding into it. Delmarva Power has been the primary
corporate sponsor of this event for 17 years. They provide
t-shirts to all participants.
In last year's cleanup, 2500 volunteers picked more than
34,000 pounds of trash throughout the region. About 300 lbs
of that was picked up here on the Mid-shore. We need to do it
again. Locally, there are four sites in three counties: Col.
Richardson Tomb Boat Ramp in Bethlehem, and along
Ghaney's Wharf Road in Caroline County; Sailwinds Park
Boat Ramp behind the Hospital in Cambridge, Dorchester
County; Windmill Branch Creek behind Easton High School
and Choptank River Fishing Pier, at the Malkus Bridge,
both in Talbot County.
Volunteers are needed. Girl Scouts looking for Merit
Badges can earn them and clean up the environment at the
same time. All interested adults are invited also. The event
begins at all four sites, 8:00AM Saturday, the 15th of
September.

| 2008-2011 Strategic Goals |
March 16, '07 |
This year, Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay has developed a
new set of corporate strategic goals to capitalize on the
history and spirit of the Girl Scout movement, and to provide us
with a set of strong, measurable directives for the future. We
met with volunteers and teens through Fall Association meetings,
Fall School of Girl Scouts, and at teen events to solicit their
ideas.
After meeting with the groups mentioned above and most recently
with the Strategic Planning Task Group, we fine tuned our
thinking for the task of creating corporate strategic goals.
This was a process that took over five months, the result was
precisely what we had hoped for- a set of strategic goals that
illustrate our commitment to all girls, and will successfully
drive Girl Scouts on the Delmarva Peninsula in the years ahead.
GSUSA requested that we incorporate key elements in
developing council goals so Girl Scout is unified in the pursuit
of national goals, and optimizing the quality of our outcomes.
We need your input!
