Newark, DE -- Valero recently awarded the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council a $10,000 grant to help fund science and technology programming for outreach girls at the new Science and Technology Lodge at Camp Country Center in Hockessin.

The Science and Technology Lodge, now in the construction phase, is scheduled to open in Fall 2008.  It will give the Girl Scouts the ability to host cutting edge STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs for girls, especially those from low-income families, with the mission of bridging the gender gap and preparing them for careers in related fields.

A leading advocate for and expert on girls, the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay builds girls of courage, confidence and character by providing personal leadership development and programs that teach skills for the real world.  To learn more about Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Council, visit www.GSCB.org or call 1-800-341-4007.
