FEBRUARY

 

Maryland Legislative Day

WHO: Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, Volunteers
WHEN:: Thursday, February 16, 2012
WHERE: Annapolis Legislative Services, MD

COST: $20 per girl.

 

Make connections with Maryland legislators, experience what it is like to be a lawmaker and see your government in action! This day in Annapolis will help you learn how to advocate for Girls Scouts and how a bill becomes a law. This is also a great opportunity to meet Girl Scouts from other Councils.Registration is through Girl Scouts of Central MD, www.gscm.org/register.html. Registration closes Jan. 31, 2012.

 

Powerful First Impressions

WHO:  8th Grade Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, Adults
WHEN: Saturday, February 18, 2012 (Snow date: Saturday, February 25, 2012)
WHERE:  861 Silver Lake Blvd., Suite 145, Dover, DE 19904, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., NRC, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
COST: FREE
NOTE: This workshop is mandatory for all Girl Scouts who are attending the Women of Distinction Celebration March 13, for the first time. Registration closes 15 business days prior to workshop.

 

Throughout our lives, we meet thousands of people. The ability to create a positive first impression is one you can expand on to build a solid relationship. Learn how you can take control of the way others perceive you. Walk into any social situation and feel comfortable after attending this workshop. Engineering Your Tomorrow

WHO:  Girl Scout Cadettes
WHEN: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
WHERE:  DuPont facility, New Castle County, DE
COST: $8 per girl. Cost includes activities and patch. Girls coming from a distance may stay overnight at Camp Country Center for an additional $7 per girl. (Includes breakfast.)

 

Engineering Your Tomorrow offers girls the most wonderful opportunities to explore science, chemistry and engineering. Working with women who are currently engaged in several fields of science, girls will test scientific theories with hands-on activities, as well as discover the many career opportunities for women. Additional informational sessions are provided for Leaders and parents to help guide girls in making academic choices, preparing for higher education and considering career options in science. NOTE: Max.: 75 girl participants. Complete and submit the Teen Leadership Application by January 30, 2012. . First-time Girl Scouts attending the event must register for the Powerful First Impression Workshop February 18, 2012, listed on page 18. (Snow date: February 25, 2012.)

 

Mix, mingle and make connections with Delaware’s elite businesswomen and government officials at this signature event. You will participate in a pre-program that includes personal time with our honoree. As a guest, you will also serve in leadership positions that will make this event successful—the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies, vocalists, flag presenters and greeters are all Girl Scouts. This is the highest profile event of the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay—you won’t want to miss it. ROBOTS! Teach them to follow your commands!

WHO: Girl Scout Seniors, Ambassadors
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 31, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Cambridge Easton Area, TBD
COST: $9 per girl. Cost includes laptops, robots,materials, activities and fun patches.

 

We’ll learn how to program Lego® robots to follow commands. “Turn, stop, spin!” This is a fun way to learn basic computer programming.

 

APRIL

 

People To People - France

WHO:  Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes
WHEN: Friday, April 20, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
WHERE:  Newark Resource Center

NOTE: This is a very popular event which fills up quickly so sign up early! Please eat prior to arrival.

 

Join the Delaware 99’s (an international organization of women pilots) who graciously host this very popular event.
