Celebrating Courage, Confidence and Character of Delaware's Elite Businesswomen

The Women of Distinction Celebration brings together Delaware leaders and outstanding young women to celebrate the significant contributions made by women. View past honorees and speakers.The Women of Distinction program is a wonderful leadership opportunity for teen Girl Scouts. 8th Grade Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors are invited to make connections with the Delmarva Peninsula’s elite businesswomen and government officials at these signature events. Girls serve in leadership positions that make this event successful including; Mistress of Ceremonies, flag presenters and greeters.

Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay was pleased to honor Brigadier General Carol A. Timmons as the 2013 Woman of Distinction for the northern part of the council. Brigadier General Timmons is the first woman to head the Delaware Air National Guard. As Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Delaware National Guard, she is responsible for providing trained, equipped and mission ready forces for federal mobilization and state emergency operations. General Timmons develops plans, programs and policies in support of Delaware’s C-130 Wing and is the liaison with major commands and the National Guard Bureau.

 

General Timmons is a veteran of Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Joint Guard,
Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Her deployed command experience includes serving as the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron Commander and 455th Deputy Operations Group Commander. For her civilian work, she was the first officer on United Airlines B-767-757 with more than 10,000 hours of total flying time. She was inducted into the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Aviation Hall of Fame in 2007.
